UKIP proved right on Romanian and Bulgarian migration.

Last year UKIP was accused of ‘scaremongering’ over immigration, but we have been proved right yet again. We warned that opening up the borders to Romania and Bulgarian in January 2014 would increase immigration, and we were ridiculed in some sections of the media because thousands of people did not all turn up at once on New Year’s Day.

But events have provide us right. Last week was saw the figures that show immigration was up to 624,000 people in 2014, and David Cameron spectacularly failed to in his promise to control immigration.

Official figures now show that 187,370 Romanians and Bulgarians were given National Insurance numbers over the course of 2014 after immigration rules were relaxed. This was up from 27,700 for the previous year.

This represented a 576% increase in the numbers of migrants from the two most deprived countries in the European Union who registered to work or receive state benefits in the space of just 12 months.

Neither I nor UKIP has anything against people from Romania, Bulgaria, or anywhere else. But these levels of uncontrolled migration are disastrous for Britain. What country in the world, outside the EU, has open borders to anywhere else? Nowhere of course, but the EU has open borders because it is creating a ‘United States of Europe’ and from the EU’s point of view it would be illogical to have ‘internal borders’.

The British people are waking up to what membership of the European Union actually means – the end of their own country and its subjugation as part of an undemocratic and economically declining United States of Europe.
